The incredible ten-year wait for dedicated Grand Theft Auto fans is finally coming to an end after Rockstar Games announced that the first trailer for GTA 6 will arrive next month.
That’s right, it happens… EVERYONE IS AWESOME! The end of the ten-year wait is almost here.
Rockstar Games recently announced that it will finally drop the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, early next month.
Rockstar Games president Sam Houser wrote on the developer’s official social media account: “We are very excited to announce that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing this experience with all of you.”
After the announcement, the post quickly became the most viewed sports tweet in the history of the social network. At last count, it has garnered an impressive 147 million views and over 1.4 million likes.
Why is GTA 6 so hotly anticipated?
For students who are not attached to their own game consolesthis announcement is a big deal.
The Grand Theft Auto series, which began in 1997, has long been a staple of the gaming industry. Known for its open-world sandbox gameplay, engaging narrative, and high-quality graphics and engineering, this franchise has gained a large and dedicated fan base over the years.
GTA V, the last game in the franchise, was released ten years ago and stands as one of the most successful games ever created. Boasting more than 190 million copies sold, it holds the second highest sales record in video game history, behind only Minecraft, and has generated eight billion dollars (7.4 billion euros) in worldwide revenue.
Part of the success of the franchise comes down to the fact that Rockstar Games, the creative force behind the series, continues to push the boundaries of gaming technology. Each new installment in GTA history has been a showcase of the latest technological advancements, setting the standard in the industry.
With this reputation in mind, fans are eager to see what GTA 6 will bring to the table.
What can we expect from GTA 6?
While official information about GTA 6 has been scarce, a major data leak last September gave fans a glimpse of what to expect.
About 90 videos and screenshots from the enhanced version of the game appeared on the forum, courtesy of an account called ‘The Teapotuberhacker.’
The leaked footage, which spans 50 minutes, spread like wildfire on social media before it was quickly removed by moderators. The hacker claims to have infiltrated Rockstar’s Slack messaging channel, where the videos were initially posted.
The leaked content provided glimpses of gameplay in progress, animation tests, level layouts, and introduced the two main characters.
Notably, it confirmed an old rumor among fans – the inclusion of the Grand Theft Auto series’ first female playable character.
In one leaked gameplay trailer, a character named Lucia, wearing a pink crop top, is seen robbing a diner at gunpoint.
The leak also showed the possible setting of Grand Theft Auto 6 – a modern Vice City, equivalent to the legend of Miami, which appeared in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002).
Beyond character and setting revelations, the leak sheds light on developments in NPC (Non-Playable Character) artificial intelligence. Animals are expected to show enhanced intelligence, as suggested by the AnimalIntelligence function in the data menu.
The Human NPC AI, according to the leak, is set for a major upgrade, featuring an AIMory system that means non-playable characters will remember the player’s actions and decisions, influencing their future interactions.
The menu even shows that NPCs can detect smells. Yes, you read that right – your character’s cleanliness can be very important in this game.
Now we have to sit and wait for a while…
